Promote learning, creativity, and team building! These K-12 programs for students of schools in central Minnesota's Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena Counties range from rigorous academic contests to showcasing student artistic creations.

  • Student Enrichment | Grades 3-12

    Student enrichment opportunities expand traditional classroom walls to engage learners in unique and innovative ways. Current opportunities include:

    Science from Scientists | Grades 3-8
    Bring the magic of STEM to life as a charismatic scientist leads hands-on activities to inspire students and develop STEM skills. Full-day presentation for six rotations of students.

    Student Voice: Hear Me, See Me | Grades 9-12
    A part of a Student Equity platform, this enrichment opportunity focuses on creation of a “Student Voice” video composition. Local students who are ready to make a difference and share their story will create a documentary of their experience.

  • Knowledge Bowl | Grades 7-12

    Facing off against other teams, students work together to answer questions related to all areas of learning. Students recall, solve problems, think critically, and sharpen teamwork skills. Competitions happen each spring–with top teams in grades 9-12 advancing to the Minnesota State Knowledge Bowl.

    Cragun's Resort, the venue for the canceled meet, is issuing refunds to schools.
    Schools do not need to contact Cragun's to receive a refund.

  • Spelling Bee | Grades 3-8

    It’s learning disguised as a game! The spelling bee is a series of contests starting at the school and district level. Through competition, students improve spelling and vocabulary skills. In the spring of each year, Sourcewell sponsors the competition for member schools in the five-county service area. The winner earns an all-expenses paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.

  • Math Masters | Grades 5-6

    Throughout Minnesota, students in grades 5-6 challenge critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities as a part of Math Masters. Sourcewell is a proud host of this year's Grade 5 spring mathematics competition focused on recognizing academic effort and achievement.

  • Regional Art Show | Grades 4-12

    Each spring the Regional Art Show showcases the work of students in a variety of categories including painting, drawing, crafts, mixed media, digital art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and pottery/ceramics.

  • Academic Decathlon® | Grades 9-12

    When students participate in the Academic Decathlon, they experience the rigors of team and individual competition. The curriculum addresses national content and curriculum standards, and tests students in economics, science, literature, art, speech, and more.

  • Young Authors Conference | Grades 4-12

    Designed for students who have an interest in writing and are ready to explore it on a deeper level, this conference provides the opportunity to learn from professional writers. Featuring a keynote speaker and interactive sessions led by writers, poets, songwriters, playwrights, actors, and illustrators, the event encourages and challenges students to become better writers.

  • Regional Elementary Science and Engineering Fair | Grades 4-6

    The fair is designed to encourage the natural curiosity of all students through the exploration of the scientific method and to explore and find an answer to a question or observation – through an experiment (investigation), research, or project.
